Our approach

 

Family Story Inc. custom produces  the histories of families, individuals or businesses by taking the very best of their photographs, slides, old home movies, videos, and other priceless memorabilia and incorporating special effects, titles, voice over, live testimonies and music to  make an exciting programme of the memories  lasting less than 60 minutes.

Our approach will take different paths, depending on the package you choose. We more or less follow the next steps:

Package defined

Once you have contacted Family Story Inc. we will go over the specifics of the package you are interested in to ensure that it will meet your expectations. If you are interested in customizing your package, we will help you identify the features that will best reflect your ideas.

For example:

  • Increase or decrease the number of photos included in the final production;
  • Add home movie clips;
  • Carry out special filming on location as required;
  • Increase the number of final copies of the production.

Calculate Total Cost

Based on the decisions made above, we will calculate the total price.

Schedule

Together we will set up a schedule for completing the project. Depending on the package you choose, the schedule might identify:

  • when the consultation for customizing your package will take place;
  • when the agreement will be send for being signed;
  • when will the payment be done;
  • when you will receive the organise my memories package;
  • which day/days the video interview(s) will be conducted;
  • when the cameraman can make a site assessment of technical needs;
  • when you will receive the draft DVD(s)
  • when you will receive the final DVD(s)

Signed Agreement and Partial Payment

Based on the items agreed above, we will send you an agreement for your signature to be returned to us with partial payment.
The agreement is defining specifics of what will be in your family DVD (number of photos, home movie clips, etc.) and the number of copies of each DVD you have requested.
Upon signing the agreement, return a copy to us including 50% of the final price as a down payment.The project will be started as soon as the payment is received, according to the schedule. 

Organise my memories help package 

The package contains materials that will help you organize your stories and memories. The materials consist of charts, tables and guidelines. If the interviews are conducted by you or a family member, interview tips and suggested questions are provided.During your selection process we will be available (phone or e-mail) to answer any questions. 

When conducting a video or audio interview

At the time of the interview, things will go smoothly if:

  • the person to be interviewed is ready at the designated time and place;
  • the materials needed to support the stories are provided;
  • there will be no disturbances during the interview.

Complete Project 

Depending on the complexity, the project might be completed within two or four weeks from the time we have all materials for inclusion. At that point we will provide you with a draft of the final production. Within one week of receiving the first versions of the DVD, return it to us with your comments.
Within 2 - 4 weeks of receiving your comments on the first versions of the DVD, you will receive the final version of the project.

This is the only way that allows your present family members and the future generations to see three, then four and more generations before their eyes.
